5th MAPA Golf Get Together Game Monterez 16th October 2009

After our recent letdown, the committee members decided to quickly organise the monthly get together game for us to get some of our mojo back. We decided to move the venue north to encourage other players to join in the event. We succeeded and managed to draw in M.Shukri, Arian and Lee FW. So the scene was set for a Friday morning tee off at the Monterez Golf and Country Club in which some of our players are 'resident pros', but of course I'm not one of them. Haha..

Nice benign conditions with low clouds made it an enjoyable affair, where we rediscovered our golf skills which deserted us in our last outing. In the end our resident pro Shukri @ Sean grabbed the best nett title and the best gross went to another resident pro 'wannabe' with a score of 78. We had a great time and the main objective of getting newcomers to join the get together was achieved. Thank you for coming boys and until next month, enjoy the pics....

Aero Cup 2009

The Aero Cup

30th September 2009 - The morning was set up for a classic showdown between MAPA and AirAsia for the chance to lift the inaugural 'Aero Cup'. The objective of the event is to foster better ties between both organizations. The game was held at Staffield GR and with only a few days after raya, most players were rusty due to the fasting month or by just having too much lemangs and ketupats in the system. The points system was based on a group format taking in total gross scores from everyone which made handicaps irrelevant with no individual glory. Every player had to contribute their scores, double bogeys and all because it was a team event.

Mark Oi and Ammirul conducted a tournament briefing before the sound of the siren horn marked the start of the shot gun tee off. It was a fun filled atmosphere with each flight having pairs of players from MAPA and AirAsia. The psychological warfare began but eventually only the golf skills could decide the outcome of the scores. In the end, after a dramatic battle the results were announced during lunch, unfortunately not in favour of our side. Congratulations to AirAsia and to our boys "Better win it next year guys!!!"
