The day finally arrived for the anticipated MAPA's Grand Final golf tournament and the finish to the Race to Joburg points. Most of the top guns were present for the chance to lift the inaugural 'Champion Golfer' crystal trophy sponsored by MAPA. Everyone were in high spirits in the morning for breakfast at the Tropicana's golf terrace.
Little did they know what awaited them as Tropicana's tricky layout can be a challenge for the first timers. An unexpected drive could spell either OB or pond if you cut the dogleg wrongly, anyway that was what I found out...now where was that practice game again??? However the never give up attitude powered everyone to give their best only to find out once again someone else had played better.
It was no surprise as in the end, our very own president Ammirul Haidir posted the Best Gross score of 82 to beat the entire field and left everyone applauding his excellent play. Now I wonder if we were playing the same golf course he was. Nonetheless hats off bro, well played. To add to his bounty Ammirul bagged the Best overall Joburg points winning 4 out of the 7 tournaments held, I wonder what's next? Everest??? Anyway kudos to the other players too especially Sean who came up tops to lift the Best Nett with a nett score of 72. To the rest, I guess try harder next year and a special thanks to Capt Najme for helping us organise the game at his home club. We will take stock and improve on the points system and bring you guys different golf courses to play on for next year.
